'Some Punches Left In That Team' - Vivian Richards On Pakistan's Performance In WC 2023

Despite being ranked high in the ICC ODI Rankings, Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 played quite poorly and found themselves on the brink of being eliminated.

The Babar Azam-led side will play their final group game today at Kolkata against England and will need to win by a thumping margin to qualify for the semi-finals. West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards, who works closely with several Pakistan players in PSL, pinned the blame on the team itself for failing to qualify.

Writing in the column for ICC, the two-time World Cup winner stated that given the amount of talent that exists, Team Pakistan should have already booked a spot in the next round.

Here's what what Richards said

"I can’t help thinking that with the talent they have, they should have already sealed their spot. I have seen up close in recent years through my coaching work [Pakistan Super League] how much ability exists in that squad but they have made life hard for themselves – I think they are a more talented squad than their place in the table would suggest. They can beat the very best on their day so there may be some punches left in that team."

Pakistan have managed four wins in eight World Cup 2023 matches, and have lost four, which include a defeat against the hands of Afghanistan.
