'Give Pakistan Team To Dhoni'- Former IND Batter Slams Babar Azam For Poor Captaincy

Contrary to expectations, Pakistan have had a underwhelming campaign in the World Cup, occupying the fourth position with four victories in eight outings. Despite having a balanced team on paper, Pakistan failed to live up to the expectations, even losing one-sidedly against Afghanistan.

While fitness and poor form of several players derailed Pakistan's World Cup journey, skipper Babar Azam also received massive backlash for his tactical shortcomings. Meanwhile, former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary has slammed Babar for his poor captaincy, highlighting several flaws in his on-field calls.

Tiwary accused Babar of taking some questionable calls during the World Cup, asking him to execute the plan B whenever the pre-decided ploy gets flopped.

"I feel that Babar could have done better as captain, he needs to be proactive and think one step ahead, for example how he continued with Shadab's bowling example despite seeing that he was struggling to find his rhythm. I think it is better to remove the struggling bowler if he is not able to deliver properly. It is important to have a proactive captain, Babar needs to think out of the box," Tiwary said as quoted by NDTV Sports.

He also hailed legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni in this process, saying the same Pakistan team would've performed much better under his leadership.

"He should be prepared to modify his plans according to match situation. At times you need to go against your initial plans when the situation on the field is different. Give same Pakistan team under leadership of MS Dhoni, I challenge that this team will be on a winning streak," he added.

Pakistan will face England in their final league-stage game of the World Cup on the 11th at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
