Pakistan's recent clean sweep loss to Australia in the three-match T20I series may have been disappointing, but white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan is already looking ahead. Despite the setback, Rizwan’s focus is on the future, especially with the upcoming series against Zimbabwe and South Africa just around the corner.

After losing 3-0 to Australia, Rizwan took the time to reflect on the team's performance.

"We know some of our batters are facing issues, but we still have time in T20s to improve," he admitted. While the T20 series didn’t go as planned, Rizwan pointed out the strong performance of Pakistan’s openers and bowlers during the earlier ODI series, which Pakistan won 2-1.

"In the One-Day series, our openers and bowlers performed well. Babar Azam’s touch was visibly different from today’s performance," he added.

Rizwan Praises Haris Rauf  For His Exceptional Performance

Rizwan was also quick to give credit where it was due. He praised fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi, saying, “Haris Rauf is being praised not only by me but also by the Australians. He will do well in the future.”

Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers as he returned impressive figures of 4/22 in the second T20I. Meanwhile, in the ODI, he took 10 wickets with an economy rate of 5.00.

"We don't have enough experienced middle-order batters like Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Imad Wasim," Rizwan explained, highlighting the area where Pakistan needs more depth and stability.

Rizwan Reveals the Reason for Sitting Out the Third T20I

Rizwan also reflected on his decision to sit out the third T20I against Australia at Bellerive Oval, saying,

“As a captain, you make the first sacrifice. I discussed this with the management and players. We’re testing future stars, so I thought I should be the one to step aside."

With an eye on the future, Rizwan discussed the importance of game awareness and the need to bring fresh faces into the squad. "We lack awareness of the game, and we're working to bring that in," he said. He also hinted at the upcoming series against Zimbabwe as an opportunity to test emerging talent.

The ODI series will begin on November 24, followed by the T20I series starting on December 1. Both the three-match ODI and T20I series will be held at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
