Following Pakistan’s 13-run loss to Australia in the 2nd T20I held at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), visitor captain Mohammad Rizwan donated his wicket-keeping gloves and match jersey to the SCG museum. SCG officials thanked Rizwan for his heartfelt gesture on Instagram.

Pakistan’s white-ball tour to Australia was a mixed bag as they beat Australia in the ODI series only for the hosts to return the favour in the T20I series. Mohammad Rizwan and co lost the T20I series 0-3 in what turned out to be a dominant show from the hosts.

Meanwhile, in his first assignment as Pakistan white-ball format captain, Mohammad Rizwan left an everlasting impact on Australian soil.

After the second T20I in Sydney Cricket Ground that Pakistan lost by a narrow margin of 13 runs, skipper Mohammad Rizwan handed over his wicket-keeping gloves and Pakistan jersey to Kamil Khan, a Multicultural Ambassador for Cricket Australia. He donated his gear as a contribution to the SCG museum.  SCG officials later took to Instagram to express gratitude for Rizwan’s heartfelt gesture.

Babar Azam earlier donated his bat to MCG’s long room collection. It was the same bat he used during the ICC T20 World Cup finals. He thanked MCG for the invitation and expressed the moment as an honour.

Rizwan achieves special feat as Pakistan captain

Following Pakistan’s 2-1 series victory over Australia in ODIs, Mohammad Rizwan became only the second Pakistani captain to win an ODI series in Australia after Waqar Younis did it first in 2002. Under his leadership, Pakistan achieved a landmark 2-1 series victory, their first on Australian soil in 22 years.

This series was Rizwan’s first assignment as Pakistan’s white-ball format captain after he replaced Babar Azam, who resigned from the role twice in a span of 10 months. Haris Rauf made the difference with 10 wickets in 3 games, whereas Saim Ayub also hit 124 runs in the last 2 ODIs. Though, Rizwan himself scored just 74 runs in the ODI series.
