Former cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra believes that Shubman Gill rightly deserves the title of 'Prince'. He supported his firm belief with statistical backing as he compared Gill with Indian greats, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Shubman Gill, who has vastly been criticised for his form in red-ball cricket shut his critics with a brilliant century in the first Test against Bangladesh at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. His knock alongside Rishabh Pant's comeback ton helped India navigate through a tough spot and eventually secure a win.

Praising Gill, Chopra drew attention to the list of most hundreds for India in this decade in international cricket and how Shubman holds a spot above Kohli and Rohit.

Gill Surpasses Kohli and Rohit

"Who has scored the most hundreds for Team India in this decade? It's a very interesting one. There was a tweet from CricCrazyJohns, and we said we never realized that. He wrote about the most hundreds for India in this decade in international cricket - Shubman Gill has 12 hundreds in 114 innings. It is absolutely phenomenal," stated Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.

"Rohit Sharma, in the same timeframe, has played 148 knocks and scored 10 centuries. Virat Kohli has played 149 knocks and scored 10 centuries and both of them are our GOATs (greatest of all times). So Shubman Gill is going far ahead with 12 centuries. We are not giving him the status of 'Prince' wrongly," mentioned Chopra.

Talking further about the Punjab-born batter, Chopra said that Gill is on the path to achieve greatness and that he has it in his DNA.

"He has it in his DNA. I am saying this guy is running towards greatness because he feels, actually he is convinced. If he puts his mind to matter, greatness beckons. It is a very good story for Indian cricket," added Chopra.

Gill Arrives in Kanpur

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill arrived in Kanpur ahead of the second Test against Najmul Hossain and Co. He arrived at the airport alongside Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma. In the video, players were seen surrounded by security guards and fans.
