The franchises are awaiting BCCI's decision on retention policy for IPL 2025. Meanwhile, all the teams have started their preparations for the upcoming season and there are reports that Rishabh Pant is Delhi's first-choice.

Other than Pant, if the BCCI allows more than five players to be retained, the franchise is expected to keep Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, likely in that order, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs as the overseas retentions.
