The tension seems to rise every time India plays Pakistan in cricket. But this time, when the two giants will collide on the field in World Cup 2023 on 14th October at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, tension will not just be on the field but also off the field after severe attack threats have been received from terror organisations. The news comes after the security was enhanced for the opening England-New Zealand game after Khalistani threats were obtained.

However, unarguably, the biggest clash of the World Cup is set to see a rise in security personnel being deployed at the stadium and in some other places. As per the Ahmedabad police commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik, 7000 strong police force, 4000 home guards, 13 companies of State Reserve Police (SRP) and three companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be used at various places, including the stadium.

Additionally, to detect any threat of "chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear" attack, there would be special forces to ensure that they maintain extremely tight security since more than 1.3 Lakh people will be present inside the stadium with numerous VVIP personalities.

"This is a match on which everyone is eyeing. We expect that they watch it with sportsmanship. In the past 20 years (when Pakistan played India) nothing happened and this time too, we will ensure that no untoward incidents happens."

In addition, three teams of National Security Guards (NSG), anti-drone teams, 13 bomb disposal squads with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also to be placed to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

"The deployment is being done keeping in mind the sensitivity of match which has the potential of turning communal. RAF and SRP will be deployed at sensitive areas such as Dariapur, Karanj, Shahpur among other places. It is the duty of police to secure everyone impartially and professionally. We have augmented (resources) accordingly."

Furthermore, the Pakistani cricket team will be under the security of additional escort teams who will guide them in and out of the stadium to their hotel where they will stay.

Also mentioned was that no water bottles will be allowed inside the stadium alongside anything that could be thrown, except mobile phones. All this happened after police received several messages from Khalistani activists that included voice messages and emails from Canada.
