‘Sarfaraz Could Make His Debut If KL Rahul…’ - Ex Opener Explains India’s XI For 3rd Test

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently talked about India’s probable playing XI ahead of the third test match against England in Rajkot from February 15–19. Both England and India have won a match each in the 1st and 2nd Tests, respectively, of the five-match test series of England’s tour of India and will look forward to the 3rd Test to take a further lead in the series.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra opined that Rahul will be the perfect replacement for Shreyas Iyer to bat at number 4. However, Rahul has not been keeping the wickets in the series following an injury.

KL Rahul also missed the second test match in Vizag after pain in his quadriceps. Chopra believes this is why the young batter can be seen making his debut for India against England.

Aakash Chopra on Sarfaraz Khan’s debut for India

"KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are a part of this team, which was going to be the case. I think KL Rahul should walk into this team because it was a niggle; it wasn't a tear or something, especially since he is a batter and is not keeping the wickets currently," Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel. "So I am assuming he will be available in Rajkot and will play as well. He will fit immediately in place of Shreyas Iyer to bat at No. 4. Just in case Rahul isn't available, you could see Sarfaraz Khan making his debut.”

The BCCI recently released the squad for the remaining three Test matches, which excluded Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer due to personal reasons and an underlying injury, respectively.
