'Rohit Was Scolding': In-Flight Exciting Details of India's World Cup Return From Barbados To Delhi Out

India's 2024 T20 World Cup win marked a significant milestone, celebrated nationwide. The final match was a nail-biter, with South Africa needing 16 runs off the last six balls. Hardik Pandya bowled the decisive final over and defended the target taking two crucial wickets, those of David Miller and Kagiso Rabada. 

The triumph was met with nationwide celebrations, but Cyclone Beryl delayed the team's return from Barbados by two days. The players, support staff, and media were stranded due to the Category 5 hurricane, which shut down the city.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah arranged a chartered flight to bring the team back to Delhi once the airports resumed operations. The 16-hour flight was filled with celebrations of the historic win. This victory also saw T20I retirements from stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja.


What Happened In The Flight?

The inside-flight details of India's return from Barbados after their T20 World Cup win have captivated fans even a month later. New revelations have continued to emerge, which add to the vivid tapestry of that flight. A Star Sports producer who travelled with the team shared insights that captured the team's euphoric mood. 

"On this flight, Barbados to Delhi, I think hardly anyone slept for more than six hours. That would have been the maximum. At no point was anyone quiet. Star Sports engineers were also part of the flight because theirs was cancelled and they were also accommodated. But there was a lot of interaction. I believe at one moment, Rahul Dravid came up to the economy section to figure out if there was a 4-seater because he wanted to sleep. He came there from the business class and slept there for some time," the producer said.

"I remember I was sleeping and I could suddenly hear Rohit scolding somebody. I saw and he was standing right there. But Rohit, in his style was scolding jokingly. After that, Hardik came, Rishabh came and they were all having discussions with the media. So obviously, there was a lot of chatter."
