In a significant development, former Australian captain Michael Clarke has spoken on Rohit Sharma’s absence from the first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to personal reasons. He has expressed his support for Rohit’s decision to prioritise his family and miss the first Test.

Rohit and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, recently welcomed their second child, that will led the Indian captain to sit out the opening Test in Perth. It is important to note that, Rohit is expected to rejoin the squad in Adelaide ahead of the second Test.

Michael Clarke Supports Rohit Sharma 's Decision

In an exclusive interview with RevSportz, Michael Clarke reflected on the significance of family moments over professional commitments. He said that he supports Rohit Sharma's decision to prioritise family time and he also added that he would have done the same thing if he was in his place.

Clarke said "Happiest day of my life was when my daughter was born. Much more than a Test match or a win or even a World Cup, you can’t equate it to anything. Family comes first, A Test match will come again but this is a very different moment. Rohit will be missed. His leadership will be missed but I can tell you I’d have done the exact same thing if I was in his position". [RevSportz]

Clarke’s remarks resonate with many who have also praised Rohit for putting family before cricket. India’s captain has been a pillar of strength for the team, and his absence in Perth is considered a significant blow to the side’s preparations for the high-stakes series.

India, under Bumrah’s leadership in Rohit's absence, will look to draw first blood against Australia at the Optus Stadium. India and Australia kick off their much-anticipated series on November 22, and it will be interesting to see how the Indian team adapt to this early challenge.
