Bangladesh’s captain Litton Das made big claims after his side sealed a 2-1 T20I series win over Ireland on Tuesday, insisting that the team is moving in the right direction ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. His confidence comes from months of trial, error, and steady progress recently in Bangladesh cricket in the shortest format.

Bangladesh’s preparations for the next global event have been anything but steady. Over the last year, the think-tank has shuffled combinations, rotated roles, and placed players in situations designed to push them to perform out of their skins.

From powerplay aggression to death-overs clarity, the coaching staff has pushed for a squad that understands its roles and can stand tall under pressure. Litton, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, after the 3rd T20I against Ireland, believes that, after all these required experimentation, the group now looks far more settled.

“I think we tried almost everything in every aspect of the team. This bunch of players are almost ready for the next World Cup,” Litton said.

Bangladesh's growth over the past few months is evident in both their results and their temperament. A string of competitive outings has helped them refine their ability to perform across different situations and roles.

Even in moments of setback like that of in the recent Asia Cup, or even against Ireland, after going down in the first T20I, Bangladesh have shown an eagerness to bounce back decisively.

Litton has also pointed out Bangladesh’s long-standing struggles in the fielding department, but the series against Ireland marked a clear shift, with sharper movement and a handful of brilliant catches, encouraging signs of the significant improvement in the fielding department.

“We are not a good fielding unit, but we took some brilliant catches in this series. At least in the fielding department, we have shown improvement,” Litton added

As the 2026 T20 World Cup draws closer, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh enter the build-up phase with positivity and belief of making a meaningful impact on the global stage.
