Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman has criticised ace speedster Shaheen Afridi for his alleged involvement in a verbal altercation with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf.

Notably, Shaheen was accused of misbehaving with Yousuf during Pakistan's UK tour for the white-ball series against England and Ireland.

The bowler apparently lost his cool when Yousuf cautioned him about bowling too many no-balls during a practice session.

'You should've put your head down' - Atiq advises Shaheen

Former keeper-batter Atiq-uz-Zaman slammed Shaheen for his misconduct, advising him to respect seniors like Yousuf.

He supported the legendary Pakistani batter, reckoning that Shaheen should refrain from bowling no balls in nets as it would eventually become a habit.

"If Mohammad Yousuf bhai said that, Shaheen Afridi shouldn't have made the comments he did. I'm not sure if he made them or not, as these are just rumors. If he did, I'm really disappointed because Yousuf Bhai is a bigger name than Shaheen Afridi," Atiq said.

"So he got to understand that there is something called respect. If the coach instructs you, you should just put your head down and try not to bowl no-ball in the nets. The problem's sorted," he added.

Meanwhile, Shaheen might miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Although he has made himself available for the series, the PCB might rest him to manage his workload.
