Babar Azam is confident that the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2025 (PSL 2025) season will be a closely-contested one. The legendary Pakistan batter is set to lead the Peshawar Zalmi franchise, and he will be joined rising Pakistan batting star Saim Ayub as his deputy.
Mere days prior to the launch of the PSL 2025 season, Babar spoke about the rising competitiveness in the league, and stated how all competing franchises strive to compose best squads possible in the tournament.
Babar Azam hypes up PSL 2025
During the PSL 2025 captains’ conference, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam acknowledged the ever-increasing competitive nature of the league. The legendary cricketer claimed that all franchises of the tournament try to balance their squads to the fullest. He said:
“All franchises in the Pakistan Super League are balanced. Each franchise in the PSL tries to make the best squad.”
Babar Azam also led the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the previous two editions of the tournament. The prolific right-handed batter plundered over 500 runs each in 2023 and 2024, maintaining formidable batting averages of over 50 on both occasions.
For the PSL 2025 season, he will be accompanied by vice-captain Saim Ayub, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris and overseas cricketers Luke Wood, George Linde among others as Peshawar Zalmi eyes its first PSL title since winning the 2017 edition.
