James Anderson is one of the greatest bowlers to play Test cricket and ended his career in the longest format with 704 wickets in 188 matches. He recently retired in July 2024, and now has registered for IPL 2025 auction as well. It shows that he is still keen to play and is now likely to play different franchise leagues around the world.
The fast bowler also opened up about his retirement and his urge to continue playing cricket till his body supports him. In a recent interview to SKYSports, James Anderson also touched on his retirement from international cricket and stated that if the things would have been in his hands, he would have continued to play Test cricket till 50. He added that he is still fit and performing well but mentioned that the management was looking towards the future which is also fine with him.
"If it were in my hands, I would've continued playing till 50. I believe I'm fit, and performing well. England were looking at the future, which is perfectly fine."
James Anderson Gets Ready For Maiden IPL Stint
James Anderson was also involved in England's coaching staff recently and if he does get a buyer in the upcoming mega auction for IPL 2025, he might take over a player-mentor role. James Anderson last played a T20 match in 2014, and was also not part of England's white-ball setup after the 2015 World Cup debacle.
So, it would be interesting to see his demand in the mega auction where plenty of talented players would be up for grabs. Anderson has also revealed that he has not been contacted by any franchise, and if he plays in the upcoming IPL season, it would be the first time he would take part in any T20 franchise league.
