Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) still owes him some of his salary from his time with the team. However, the PCB has strongly denied the claim and said Gillespie is the one who actually owes them money.

Gillespie, a former Australian fast bowler, was appointed as the head coach of Pakistan’s red-ball team in April 2024, but he resigned in December 2024, citing differences with the board.

Recently, he revealed in an interview with Geo Super that he’s still waiting for some of his payment for the nine months he worked with the team.

PCB Responds Strongly To Jason Gillespie’s Accusation

Reports also mentioned that Jason Gillespie’s agent had written to the board’s HR department, asking them to clear the pending amount.

But PCB has responded strongly, rejecting his claims. A board spokesperson said that Gillespie left the job on his own, and according to his contract, if he resigned, he was supposed to give prior notice and also pay four months' salary to the board.

"As per the contract, if PCB had terminated Jason Gillespie’s services, we would have been liable to pay him four months’ salary. But if he resigned, he was required to give prior notice and pay four months’ salary to the board. Since Gillespie himself withdrew from the role, he is the one who owes PCB four months’ salary. Therefore, his claim of unpaid dues is incorrect," PCB spokesperson told Cricket Pakistan.

This has created a new controversy between the two sides. While Gillespie says the board hasn’t paid him, PCB insists that he broke the contract rules and must pay them instead.

Gillespie Slams PCB, Says He’s Lost Passion After Pakistan Stint

Jason Gillespie revealed that his experience coaching the Pakistan cricket team left him with no interest in coaching anymore.

Gillespie, who was appointed as Pakistan's red-ball coach in 2024 on a contract until 2026, resigned suddenly just before the team’s tour of South Africa. According to Gillespie, the sacking of his assistant coach without any notice was the final straw.

He called the experience draining and disappointing. He further added that the entire episode left him so frustrated that even if Cricket Australia offered him a coaching role, he would decline.
