Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets to secure a dominant victory. CSK posted a 176-run total in the first inning after Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dubeโ€™s half-centuries. However, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav mercilessly hit Chennai bowlers in the second inning to accomplish the target in 15.4 overs.

Young Man Ayush Mhatre Makes A Statement On IPL Debut

CSK were asked to bat first but lost Rachin Ravindra early in the powerplay. Ravindra, after a scratchy knock of 5 off 9, was dismissed by Ashwani Kumar. However, Ayush Mhatre, the 17-year-old debutant, grabbed eyeballs with a sensational inning. 

He smashed a six and a four in his first over against Ashwani. Mhatre went berserk in the powerplay to slam 32 off just 15 balls before Deepak Chahar had the last laugh. Owing to Ayushโ€™s fireworks, Chennai had 48 runs in the powerplay.

Jadeja-Dube Save CSK From Embarrassment

Chennai Super Kings once again struggled to quick score runs in the middle over. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja stitched a 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket with both batters hitting a half-century each. 

Jadeja and Dube batted at approximately 150 strike rate and that partnership led to a surge in Chennaiโ€™s total. At the end of the first 20 overs, CSK had 176 runs on the board at the loss of 5 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a phenomenal spell of 2/25 while Santner conceded just 14 runs in 3 overs with 1 wicket. 

Rohit Sharma Returns To Form As CSKโ€™s Nightmare Continues

Mumbai Indians called up Rohit Sharma as an impact player to open the innings with Ryan Rickelton. The duo came out all guns blazing to knit a 63-run partnership. Ravindra Jadeja had a breakthrough right after the powerplay as he dismissed Rickelton on 24 off 19 balls.

However, Rohit came with intent and snapped out of his bad form to slam a dazzling half-century and woo the Wankhede Crowd. Suryakumar Yadav also joined him at the other end to unleash carnage. The duo scored runs at a brisk pace to completely outclass CSK bowlers.

MI Triumph Wankhede To Beat CSK

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav knitted a 114-run partnership to completely destroy CSK. While Rohit scored an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls, Yadav also contributed 68 off 30 balls with 5 sixes and 6 fours. The duo dominated the Wankhede turf and didnโ€™t allow a single opportunity for CSK to come back. MI chased down the total in 15.4 overs to accomplish a 9-wicket dominant victory.
