In a scatching attack on Pakistan cricket, former head coach, Jason Gillespie has finally spoken on why he decided to quit as their red-ball coach. A furious Gillespie talked about lack of communication and how he felt betrayed by the PCB.

When Gillespie was appointed the red-ball coach in April, this year, Pakistan cricket had a ray of hope, but that quickly vanished as the team coaches had no visible communication with the Pakistan Cricket Board, and the first sign of disappointment came when white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten resigned from his post, citing lack of communication.

Gillespie reaveals why he left his post as red-ball coach

Recently, PCB started the policy that the head coaches won't have any say in the team selection, and this infuriated Gillespie. However, as per him, the final nail in the coffin came when high-performance coach Tim Nielsen was sacked without Gillespie's verdict.

“The straw that broke the camel’s back, I suppose, was, as a head coach, you like to have clear communication with your employer.

“Tim Nielsen was told that his services were no longer required and I had absolutely zero communication from anyone about that, and I just thought after a number of other things that had gone on in the previous few months, that was probably the moment where I thought, ‘Well, I’m not really sure if they actually really want me to do this job or not.'”

What irked Gillespie was the fact that PCB gave a vote of confidence to both Gillespie and Nielsen, but suddenly, without any proper communication decided to remove him.

“All the feedback that I’d got or the feedback the PCB got was just how effective, you know, Tim had been in his role as well and the players were getting a lot out of him.”

Gillespie-Kirsten resigntaion puts PCB in bad light

Kirsten was the first to follow the exit door, but Gillespie waited for a bit longer. Under his tenure, Pakistan shockingly lost the Test series against Bangladesh at home, but in the next series, they came back from behind to win against England.

However, issues started to come up when Gillespie mentioned that he would know about the players in the team just a day prior to the match and had no verdict in who should be in the squad. This incident has put PCB in bad light as two catches in the space of a couple of months have left their position.
