Former Pakistan captain, Salman Butt, has lashed out at Pakistan's team management for including Shadab Khan in the T20 World Cup 2024, with the all-rounder not actively bowling regularly instead of other proper leg-spinning options that they have in the country.

The Pakistan team has been under immense scrutiny following their premature exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup, where they were defeated by the host, USA, and India in close games in which the opponents held their nerves better.

One of the critics of the national team is Salman Butt, who expressed his disgust regarding Shadab Khan, who had just bowled 4 overs twice in 2024. He also called out the management for lacking common sense.

"I am concerned about Pakistan lacking common sense. Shadab had just bowled 4 overs twice in 2024 before the World Cup. We keep calling him a package without defining his role. We don't work with the best match-winning leg spinners in Pakistan, Usman [Qadir] and Usama Mir despite their domestic performances," said Salman Butt.

According to him, the 39-year-old also named some of the best leg spinners in the world and compared Pakistan's situation.

"We kept searching for packages and kept compromising with bits and pieces cricket. Specialists are important in T20s. Look at Kuldeep, Zampa, Adil Rashid, Keshav Maharaj, and Shamsi. They don't bat a lot but they are match-winners with the ball. We don't use our brains," he concluded.
