The Pakistan U-19 team had a great outing in the Asia Cup when they defeated India in the final. And now, they are looking forward to continuing that form in the upcoming World Cup, which will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The tournament was vital for the team to begin their preparation, and now they are also playing the tri-series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. The skipper, Farhan Yousaf, believes the Asia Cup and the tri-series will give them great confidence going into the World Cup. The fact that the tri-series is also being played in Zimbabwe will give them great confidence.

“The tri-series has helped us prepare well for the upcoming mega event. Our batting unit has shown positive intent, while the bowlers have delivered at key moments. Playing a final against the hosts will be a good challenge for us. The players are ready, and we want to finish the tournament on a positive note and carry momentum into the World Cup,” said Farhan Yousaf, as quoted by ICC.

Pakistan have had a dominant run in the last month

Under the leadership of Farhan, Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India by a massive margin of 191 runs in the Asia Cup finals, and now they are undefeated in the tri-series as well. Their players also look in great touch as they head into the major world event.

Sameer Minhas has been the standout performer for Pakistan and will be one of the key players to watch at the U19 World Cup. He was the top run scorer during the U19 Asia Cup, scoring 471 runs at a remarkable average of 157 and a strike rate of 117.46.

He has continued that red-hot form into the tri-series as well. He once again is leading the charts with 246 runs from four matches, averaging 61.50 at a strike rate of 114.42. Pakistan will be aiming to add to their tally of two Under-19 World Cup titles and claim their first trophy in the tournament since 2006.
