The countdown has begun for the Asia Cup 2025 and the buzz is already sky-high. With the tournament set to light up the UAE from September 9 to 28, all eyes are on Pakistan’s preparations.
And in the middle of it all, young batting sensation Hasan Nawaz has opened up on what it means to face India and how the team is shaping up for the mega event.
India vs Pakistan Hype Building Up
Hasan didn’t shy away from admitting that the blockbuster clash against India on September 14 will be special.
“Yes, it will be a challenge,” Hasan said when asked about the high-voltage contest as quoted by geosuper.tv.
“There is pressure in every match, but we try to enjoy the game and take each contest as a challenge. India-Pakistan matches are always exciting, and I am looking forward to them. Our preparations are complete.”
For the youngster, it’s about keeping his cool in the storm. He knows the world will be watching, but his focus remains simple, treat it like just another game of cricket, even when the stakes are sky-high.
Approach With The Bat
Hasan Nawaz spoke about his batting mindset and why conditions in the UAE demand a smarter approach.
“The conditions in the UAE are not such that you can just walk in and hit every ball. You need to assess the game and carry it through, The way I’ve been playing is not about trying to hit a six on every ball—that’s not the intent. It’s about how you take the entire match forward, and that’s what a match-winning innings is.” he explained.
It is clear that he wants to be the glue in the middle order, the one who can steady the ship and then accelerate when the time is right.
Learning From The Best
Hasan also credited the coaching staff for his recent growth, especially the role of former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson.
“I have learned a lot from Mike Hesson; he has been working closely with us, and I continue to gain valuable insights from him and the other coaches,” he added.
Guidance along with his natural flair, has already started showing results.
The Rise Of Hasan Nawaz
For those who might not know, Hasan only made his international debut in March this year against New Zealand. In just his third match, he announced himself in style, smashing an unbeaten 105 off 45 balls to guide Pakistan home in a 205-run chase. Since then, he has been a regular name in Pakistan’s success stories, handling pressure like a seasoned pro despite being just 23.
Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup journey against Oman on September 12 before locking horns with India two days later in Dubai. With Hasan Nawaz looking hungry and confident, fans will hope he can carry his form into the big stage and light up the tournament.
