Trinbago Knight Riders couldn’t have asked for a better start. Veteran seamer Mohammad Amir bowled a sensational opening over, swinging the ball both ways and sending back both Falcons’ two dangerous players - Rahkeem Cornwall and Kareema Gore, inside six deliveries. To add to the pressure, the over was a maiden, a rarity in T20 cricket and a psychological blow that put the Falcons immediately on the back foot.
Imad Fights Through The Pain
With wickets falling regularly, the Falcons slipped to 82/6, staring at a collapse. But Imad Wasim stood tall, battling visible discomfort to play a captain’s knock. His unbeaten 37 off 30 balls was marked by grit and smart shot selection, stitched together with Usama Mir in a record 64-run stand for the seventh wicket. Their fightback lifted the Falcons to 146/7, a total that looked competitive given the circumstances.
Carty Anchors, Hales Steadies
In reply, the Knight Riders executed their chase with calm authority. Keacy Carty led the way with a composed 60 off 45 balls, showcasing maturity beyond his years. He rotated strike efficiently and picked his moments to attack, ensuring the chase never drifted out of control. At the other end, Alex Hales played the perfect foil, adding 55 off 46 with trademark strokes square of the wicket. Together, they built the platform that all but sealed the match.
Pooran’s Flair Finishes It
Once the foundation was laid, skipper Nicholas Pooran stepped in with fireworks. His unbeaten 23 off 11 balls included two towering sixes, the last of which ended the contest in style. The Knight Riders reached the target in 18.4 overs, winning comfortably by 8 wickets and showcasing a performance where batting and bowling clicked in harmony.
