Nicholas Pooran has been in sublime form in 2024. He had a tremendous T20 World Cup for the Windies, and started on the front-foot against South Africa in the first T20I of the series.

He continued the momentum in the second game of the series, as he smacked the Proteas and Mumbai Indians youngster, Kwena Maphaka for a monstrous six, which shattered the confidence of the bowler.

The youngster, who is still raw at the moment, delivered a length ball on the middle and leg stump, seemingly inviting Pooran to go for the big shot. The West Indian powerhouse just used the pace on the ball and flicked it brilliantly to smash a colossal hit which went miles into the stands.

Unfortunately for Pooran, it wasn't his day to score big, as the southpaw was dismissed for a run-a-ball 19.

South Africa failed, despite strong start

Talking about the contest, West Indies once again emerged victorious and have a 2-0 lead in the series. They batted first and posted a healthy 179/6 on the board, courtesy quick-fire knocks from Shai Hope (41), and captain Rovman Powell (35).

In reply, South Africa started off on a strong note, with Reeza Hendricks scoring 44 off 18 deliveries. However, once the top-order was dismissed, the other batters were knocked over like a pack of cards as the hosts won the game, rather comfortably.
