Jasprit Bumrah's devastating first-innings burst in the Visakhapatnam Test against England continues to garner praise and respect towards the ace Indian speedster, with former opener Aakash Chopra raving him 'one of the greatest ever fast-bowlers' in the history of Test cricket.

Bumrah emerged as India's hero on a pivotal Day 2 of the second Test match with a terrific spell of 6 for 45 and helped dismiss England for 253, giving hosts a massive first-innings lead of 143 and earning heaps of compliments from the world cricket fraternity.

Of the Indian lot, Chopra bowed down to the genius of the Gujarat pacer and hailed him among the finest ever pacers witnessed at the highest level after a tremendous exhibition of reverse swing saw Bumrah transform Indian fortunes on his own in spin-dominant conditions in Vizag.

Having left runs behind on the park again with a total of 396 runs, India needed their bowlers to stand up to the task and tilt the scales in their favour. Under pressure after losing the first Test, skipper Rohit Sharma and company required their attack to jolt the Englishman and take a stride towards levelling the series.

In conditions where usually premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is India's go-to man, it was Bumrah who proved to be the difference for his side as he unleashed his wrath on England's strong middle-order and came up with exceptional figures to drown the rampaging tourists.

"What we are watching in front of our eyes is peak performance from one of the greatest ever fast bowlers in the history of the game. Bumrah was fantastic," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"He picked 6 wickets on a flat wicket, made Joe Root his bunny, cleaned up the tail and bowled the ball of 2024 to Ollie Pope. Bumrah also has the rare skill to reverse in both directions."

Bumrah has been India's best bowler of the series so far, taking his 12 wickets at a jaw-dropping average of 9.50 in conditions designed for Indian spinners to rule the roost.
