The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has had a horrendous start to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) but the franchise has managed to make its way back into the tournament by winning their last three games.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their last fixture against Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 4, 2024, by 4 wickets.
Earlier in the match, RCB won the toss and invited GT to bat first as they could score 147 runs in their 20 overs. RCB won the fixture and chased the target with 6.2 overs to spare, but after losing six wickets in a whisker.
RCB openers Virat Kohli (42 runs off 27 balls) and Faf du Plessis (64 runs off 23 balls) made a significant contribution in the run-chase. The RCB bowlers managed to make a remarkable impact as Mohammed Siraj (2/29), and Yash Dayal (2/21) were the top performers in the match.
Ajay Jadeja Opines On RCB After Defeating GT
The former Indian all-rounder, Ajay Jadeja, talking at the Match Centre Live after the RCB Vs GT clash expressed himself and stated that RCB bowlers have started gaining momentum and winning matches for the team.
He also stated that RCB bowlers have taken their side "off the ventilator" but the team remains "in the ICU" after their win against GT.
"We are excited about today's match after seeing Virat and Faf bat. But the real work that was done, was by the bowlers, an aspect RCB has historically struggled at. Today, it seemed like RCB picked the right road while Gujarat was on the other side. Who will reach their goal? It's a very tough ask still. The chinks in the armour are visible, what happened at the end. But the chance is there. They're off the ventilator but they're still in the ICU."
Jadeja also emphasized the importance of a strong bowling department, an area where RCB has traditionally struggled. He also believes that the balance of the team's momentum at this crucial juncture of the season could play a significant role in their chances of success.
RCB will play its next fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala on May 9, 2024.
