Virat Kohli has been the talk of the town and has grabbed the limelight this time not for his incredible form but for his slow strike rate. The legendary player has been a subject of interest for his slow strike rate many former cricketers and pundits have taken a brutal dig at how Kohli approaches and develops his innings in the middle overs.
The 35-year-old cricketer in a couple of post-match interviews has hit back and has been vocal about the criticism he has been facing about his strike rate.
Sunil Gavaskar Hits Out At Kohli's Rant And His Strike-Rate Critics
In a recent pre-match presentation at Star Sports ahead of the RCB Vs GT clash on May 4, 2024, Sunil Gavaskar was candid and slammed the broadcaster for showing the innings of Virat Kohli in which the commentators have raised questions regarding the slow strike rate.
The Indian legend expressed himself and said that the commentators were doing their job and questioning Virat just because he was playing at a strike rate of 118 and then getting out in the 14th or 15th over.
"Commentators questioned only when the strike rate was 118. I'm not too sure. I don't watch too many matches, so I don't know what the other commentators have said otherwise. But if you have a strike of 118 and then you get out in the 14th or the 15th with a strike-rate of 118, I mean, if you want applause for that, that's a little bit different. That's different," said Gavaskar.
He also questioned Virat Kohli and said that he is responding to the outside noise even after he claimed that he pays no attention to anything that is said about him.
The commentator also added that the commentators have no agendas against anyone and are just doing their job.
We all played a bit of cricket, not a lot of cricket. We don't have agendas. We speak about what we see. We don't necessarily have any likes and dislikes. Even if we have likes and dislikes, we actually speak on what is happening," he added.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have not had a notable journey so far in the IPL, they are currently placed in the last position in the points table with 6 points.
