Pathirana Ruled Out Of IPL 2024? Injured CSK Pacer Travels Back To Sri Lanka

Matheesha Pathirana, the star CSK pacer has travelled back to his home country Sri Lanka to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered after the game against SRH.

It was reported that he will be fit for the game against Punjab Kings at Dharamsala, but CSK have now revealed that the star pacer has travelled back to his home country which most likely means that he will not take any further part in IPL 2024 with T20 World Cup also around the corner.

The right-arm pacer has picked 13 wickets in 6 innings so far and is a critical asset for CSK with his death-bowling skills. However, he has been injury-prone throughout his career, so it is quite natural that Sri Lankan cricket do not want to risk their pacer ahead of a marquee tournament like T20 World Cup.

Also, hamstring injuries generally take five-six weeks to recover, so it would be interesting to see how Pathirana recovers from this blow. He was part of Sri Lanka’s World Cup 2023 squad as well, but got injured midway and with world-class skills at his disposal, it is imperative that Pathirana gets to that tournament full fit.

It is surely a big blow for CSK as well, and let's see how Ruturaj Gaikwad and company go about their business if Pathirana is indeed ruled out of the whole IPL 2024.
