Australia's ex-cricketer and an absolute beast at his time, Aaron Finch, recently sparked a lot of buzz on social media with his 'humble' and bold prediction for a record-breaking challenge.
Finch, who is now often seen as a commentator and broadcaster for different cricket games, was once the monster in Yellow that the opponents feared. He had a record of making 172 runs in T20I cricket, and in a recent social media interaction, Finch predicted that it would be broken soon.
Finch predicts end to his own legacy
An X user (formerly Twitter) who goes by the username of @sourav18das posted an image that consisted of the highest score in an innings across formats. Test cricket had the image of Brian Lara with his ever-lasting 400* runs in Test cricket. The ODI format had Rohit Sharma's 264 runs, and Aaron Finch had 172 runs in T20Is.

The image was posted by the user with the caption, "Which record will be broken first? @BrianLara @ImRo45 @AaronFinch5?" Aaron Finch, humbly replying to the tweet, reposted it on his account and wrote, "172".
Finch predicts his record will be broken in 2026
After a user replied under Aaron Finch's post, "In the era of hit and get out, you'd think your record would be broken?", Finch then took his time to reply to that user, predicting that his record would be broken in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 itself.
"I’m pretty sure it’ll be broken at this T20 World Cup. There’ll be some really good batting wickets and the next generation’s power and skill are on another level," Finch wrote.
Speaking of the possibility of breaking Aaron Finch's record of 172 runs, the Australia legend's prediction might not be completely off, since in the past 12 months, batters like Phil Salt, Abhishek Sharma and Dewald Brevis have etched their name with whirlwind knocks, with Salt scoring 141 runs off just 60 balls against South Africa in September.
