The popularity of T20 cricket has to an extent killed Test cricket. The ultimate Test of a cricketer is by playing the longest format of the game, but the amount of cash generated by playing T20 leagues has made Test cricket irrelevant.

Not interested in Tests: Andre Russell

West Indian cricketers are known to be great T20 players, and their popularity has taken this format to a different level. Some of the greats of the game play across various leagues and earn money, which are almost double of what they get while playing Test cricket.

Andre Russell, one of the finest T20 all-rounders, recently spoke about his future in Test cricket, and why players opt out of playing Test cricket in general.

"Based on the amount of T20 leagues around the world, a lot of players are just not interested in playing Test cricket."

The West Indian board receive only a chunk of revenue generated by ICC, an issue which was recently raised by former cricketer, Clive Lloyd. As a result, the big names prefer to play T20 leagues to earn more money.

Interestingly, Russell has played just a solitary Test in his career, which came way back in 2010. Since then, he has preferred to hon his skills in the shortest format of the match.
