West Indian legend and former World Cup winner, Clive Lloyd has called for correction in the global revenue distribution model and also wants the issue of financial inequality solved.

Addressing the critical issue, Lloyd gave example of the great Wesy Indian side from the 70s and 80s, and stated that when his side were at the top of the world in cricket, there was no financial reward for them. But now, with so much moey involved, things have changed.

He also argued that the time has come for the Windies to get their fair share of revenue from the ICC.

"Over the years in our ascendancy we did not ask for any extra money. But now I'm told when they have distribution of funds at the ICC, England receives $180 million, Australia $180 million, India $180 million, and we are $80 million. I want to know, where do they get this disparity?, Lloyd quoted by Barbados Today.

The revenue system of the ICC was introduced in 2015, with the shares distributed based on the contributions to the ICC revenue. The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) generates about 90% of the revenue and hence, they get 39% of ICC's income.

Lloyd added that when West Indies used to dominated the sport, they were looked as a source of generating money by the ICC. But now, since the Windies cricket is at an all-time low, nobody comes up and supports their cricket.

"Because when we were leading, everybody wanted to play - we were playing two tours in the winter. We were the cash cow for these guys. But now that we might be a little down in the dumps, nobody now is saying, well you know West Indies do need some help."

It will be interesting to see if ICC does respond to Lloyd's comments, which has a couple of valid points.
