New Zealand's premier all-rounder Mitchell Santner exhibited his fielding brilliance as he took a sensational catch to dismiss Sam Curran during Northern Superchargers' The Hundred 2024 encounter against Oval Invincibles.

On Friday, the Superchargers defeated the Invincibles by 19 runs in the 12th group-stage match of The Hundred 2024.

Apart from Nicholas Pooran's blazing knock and a superb collective bowling effort, what stood out for the Superchargers was a magnificent grab from Santner to get rid of Oval's explosive all-rounder, Sam Curran.

The incident occurred during the eleventh set of Oval's innings when Curran had just joined Dawid Malan in the middle following the cheap dismissals of Will Jacks, Jordan Cox and skipper Sam Billings.

After getting off the mark, the swashbuckling southpaw targeted the Superchargers' spin bowling allrounder, Matthew Short, to break the shackles.

However, his valiant effort went in vain, with Santner's stunning catch putting an end to his brief stay. From around the wicket, Short bowled a full length ball, inviting Curran for a big shot. The Englishman fell in the trap, as he struck it in the air in a bid to add six runs to his tally.

But, unfortunately for Curran, Santner ran towards his right and timed his dive to perfection, claiming an outstanding catch near the long-on boundary.

Curran's wicket was a massive breakthrough for the Superchargers, as he was in sublime batting form. Despite Donovan Ferreira's 49-run cameo, the Invincibles finished on 126/9, incurring their first defeat of the season.
