Fortune Barishal skipper Tamim Iqbal revealed that he didn't talk to Shakib Al Hasan, the all-rounder from Rangpur Riders, following their victory in the opening match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2024.

Here it is worth noting that this marks the first on-field confrontation between Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal since their public falling out just before the ICC ODI World Cup last year.

Tamim was left out of Bangladesh's 15-player World Cup squad due to fitness concerns. However, the opener later claimed that he himself asked not to be picked, as he was told by a Bangladesh Cricket Board member to bat in the middle order.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan, at the helm of Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup, openly criticized Tamim Iqbal, accusing him of displaying childish behaviour. Later he also went on to say that his feud with Tamin impacted his performance in the prestigious event.

Here’s what Tamim Iqbal said when he was asked whether he made conversation with Shakib:

“No, we did not talk. I don't think this question is important. You all know about it. Why do you keep on poking? If you have to ask something then ask him.”

Tamim, however said that he would talk to Shakib Al Hasan when they get the chance to meet. The Fortune Barishal captain further added:

"I haven't met either of them yet but when I meet them obviously, we will talk. Let's see.”

As for the match, Rangpur Riders set a total of 134 runs, losing nine wickets while batting first. Fortune Barishal, in response, successfully chased the target in 19.1 overs, led by Tamim Iqbal's top score of 35 runs from 24 balls.
