As India and England are gearing up for a 4-test series starting on January 25 in Hyderabad. Let's rewind to 2021 and revisit the last test series between the two nations in India.

1st Test at Chennai

In the 2021 Test series between India and England, the action kicked off on February 5th in Chennai. The captains were Joe Root for England and Virat Kohli for India. The first test was quite a show, with Joe Root leading by example and scoring a fantastic double-century (218) in the first innings. 

England sealed the victory with a 227-run win in Chennai, thanks to a powerful bowling display in the fourth innings. Jack Leach and James Anderson played a key role, taking seven wickets on the decisive final day, securing victory before tea. Joe Root's stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award, setting the tone for an intriguing series.

2nd Test at Chennai

In the second test at Chennai on February 13, India secured a resounding victory, with Axar Patel claiming a five-wicket haul on his debut. The turnaround came after England had taken a 1-0 lead just a week earlier. 

Rohit Sharma's impressive 161 runs in the first innings and Ashwin's eight-wicket haul, along with a century, earned him the Player of the Match award in a convincing win by 317 runs.

3rd Test at Ahmedabad

With the series tied at 1-1, the third test in Ahmedabad on February 24 proved decisive. Axar Patel's exceptional performance, claiming a total of 11 wickets (6 in the first innings and 5 in the second), led India to a commanding 2-1 series lead in a Test that ended in just two days. 

England delivered a below-par performances in both the innings (112 in the first innings and 81 in the second) suffered a ten-wicket defeat, marking a swift and impactful turnaround in the series. Axar's stellar bowling earned him the Player of the Match award.

4th Test at Ahmedabad

In the final test at Ahmedabad on March 4, India clinched a dominant innings victory, securing a 3-1 series triumph as England struggled against spin. Washington Sundar narrowly missed his maiden Test hundred by four runs, remaining unbeaten at 96.

Rishabh Pant's century, coupled with Axar Patel's 9 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin's 8 wickets, highlighted India's comprehensive performance. 

Pant earned the Player of the Match award, while Ashwin secured the Player of the Series title with an impressive tally of 32 wickets and 189 runs in the series.
