In the ongoing Test match at Old Trafford, the cricket world is witnessing the prime Ben Stokes as the English skipper has shattered the big stage with a stunning century and secured a thrilling five-wicket haul. With that, the English skipper shattered the record book with exceptional achievements.

But earlier this heroics, former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin pointed fingers at Stokes’ achievement as a batter and received massive social media backlash. Now, Ashwin has come forward to defend his remarks on the English skipper.

Ashwin Doubles Down On His Critique Of Stokes

As Ben Stokes has created his magic with the ball in recent times, his bat has remained quiet. After criticism sparked on his off form, the English skipper has silenced all the critics with his recent masterclass. In the ongoing clash, he broke a two-year century drought with a stunning 141-run knock, shutting down doubters and powering England to a commanding total.

Ahead of the recent heroics, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin criticised Stokes’ contribution as a batter and faced immense criticism regarding his comment. But after Stokes’ masterclass, when a fan called him out on social media, Ashwin defended his comments while hailing Stokes’ brilliance.

“Arrey sir ji, no one doubted his class! He got his first fifer after 2017, this game a hundred after 2 years! This has come because of his traditional Test match approach to batting and not the carefree one he had adopted before this,” he said.

Stokes Scripts An Absolute Tale On Brilliance

While batting in the first innings in Manchester, Ben Stokes scripted history with his all-round excellence. After securing a fine five-wicket haul, he brought his batting masterclass in the first innings. But the beginning started with a setback as he walked away, retired hurt in the 116th over due to cramp, but made a remarkable comeback.

After returning later in the game, he secured the century in 164 balls and played an innings of 141 runs in 198 deliveries with 11 boundaries and three over-boundaries. With that, he became only the fifth captain to score a hundred and take a five-wicket haul in the same Test. With this iconic all-round show, the English skipper carved his legacy at Old Trafford.
