As Team India is struggling in the ongoing Test series, Jasprit Bumrah’s struggle in the upcoming fourth Test match is grabbing the attention. In the first innings, he managed just one wicket and was spotted limping while climbing the stairs, raising fresh concerns regarding his fitness.
As Bumrah’s struggle is putting India into more trouble, former Indian player Mohammad Kaif’s fresh remarks on him are raising eyebrows. Highlighting Bumrah’s challenges, Kaif suggested the pacer may announce a serious decision about his Test career.
Kaif Predicts Big On Bumrah
Ahead of the ongoing Test match, a buzz was over Jasprit Bumrah’s availability in the match regarding his workload management issue. But as he stepped into the field at Old Trafford, Team India’s best pacer was not seen in his ace form. He toiled through his first spell and finished the day with figures of one for 95, claiming Jamie Smith’s scalp in the 125th over.
As Bumrah’s struggle is grabbing attention, former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif made a massive prediction on Bumrah’s Test future. In his recent social media post, Kaif suggested that the star pacer may think about leaving Test cricket due to ongoing worries about his fitness.
“Jasprit Bumrah mujhe lagta hai ki aane wale Test matches mein khelte na dikhen. Ho sakta hai sanyas bhi le lein. Sharir se woh jujh rahe hain. Dheemi ball daal rahe hain, raftar dikhi nahi. Is Test match mein woh khuddhar bane... khuddhar banda agar usko lagega ki 100 pratishat nahi de pa raha Test ke liye, match jeet nahi paa raha, wickets nahi maar raha to woh khud hi mana kar dega. Aisi meri gut feeling hai,” he said.
In the ongoing Test series, Bumrah’s speed is a growing concern as the pacer delivered at a speed of 125-130 KMPH. This isn’t the fiery "Bumrah Magic" fans expect in crunch moments. Highlighting the issue, Mohammad Kaif pointed out that the pacer just doesn’t look at his lethal best
“Wickets nahi mili agla baat theek, par jo raftaar thi 130-125 ki speed se ball daal rahe the woh wicket maari, bas wicket-keeper ke haathon pahunchi. Woh jo apni diving markar pakdi thi. Fit Bumrah apni gend ki raftaar se jaate hain. Niche hoti hui ballo’n ka hawa nahi chalti to rest hi hai. Sanyas bhi koi bhi aane do bhai, jo aise mehsoos kare jab dil chahe ballebaazon ko out kar sakte hain,” he added.
Bumrah’s Battle With Fitness Grows Bigger
Bumrah’s fitness is making more headlines than his fiery spells these days. Even in the ongoing series, he is all set to play only three matches. He played in the first Test, missed the second, and came back for the third and fourth. Mohammad Kaif commented that while Bumrah's spirit stays strong, his body is struggling and limiting him.
“Mujhe lagta hai passion to wahi hai, jazba to wahi hai desh ke liye khelne ka, par sharir se zyada thak chuka hai. Uska toh body ke saath nahi de rahi hai. Is Test match mein unka na chalna saaf taur par yeh gawahi deta hai ki mujhe lagta hai ki aage dikkat aayegi. Test match mein shayad abhi khelte na dikhein,” he said.
“Virat Kohli gaye, Rohit Sharma gaye, Ashwin nahi hain. Ab shayad Bumrah ke bagair hamare Hindustan fans ko aadat daal leni chahiye bhai! Mujhe shayad lagta hai ki aapko shayad unke bagair Test match dekhne ki aadat daal leni hogi. Dua karta hoon ki jo main keh raha hoon meri prediction galat ho, par maine jo dekha iss Test match mein wo umang nahi dikh rahi thi. Wo sharir se thak gaye hain jahan bilkul tez nahi. Jazba wahi hai par sharir saath nahi de raha hai,” he added.
At Manchester, Team India is struggling again as England have already put on a massive total of 544/7 with a lead of 186 runs. On day 4, Team India will be eyeing a quick turnaround.
