Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star Nicholas Pooran has praised team owner Sanjiv Goenka, calling him ‘brilliant’ for the way he supports the team. Pooran said Goenka gives players the freedom to take their own decisions on the field. He also added that the team wants to repay Goenka’s support by performing better in the upcoming matches of IPL 2025.
Right now, LSG haven’t had the best season. Even though they still have a chance to reach the playoffs with 5 wins in 9 matches, their performances haven’t been very consistent. Many times, they have had to depend on individual players to win matches.
Nicholas Pooran Opens Up About Sanjiv Goenka’s Influence in LSG
Sanjiv Goenka is a well-known and sometimes controversial figure in the IPL. Last year, he was even seen having a heated argument with LSG captain KL Rahul. Now, Nicholas Pooran has opened up about what it’s like having Goenka around the team.
In a chat with PTI, Pooran shared that Goenka has been amazing with his support. He said the owner lets the players make cricket-related decisions themselves.
“He’s been brilliant when it comes to supporting the guys. He allowed the guys to make the decisions based on the cricket. That’s what I have felt so far. The owners have given the guys enough opportunities and obviously, that has an impact on the game for the whole team and that was wonderful. Obviously it’s business end and with his backing, hopefully the guys can come up trumps now," Pooran said.
Nicholas Pooran's Strong Performance In IPL 2025
Nicholas Pooran himself has been in amazing form this season. He has scored 377 runs in 9 matches with an average of 47.13 and a mind-blowing strike rate of 204.89.
He has also hit 31 sixes, the most by any player so far in IPL 2025. Pooran is currently third on the Orange Cap leaderboard. However, the West Indies star's form has dipped slightly in the last few games, where he scored just 8, 11, and 9 runs.
LSG’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 27 at the Wankhede Stadium.
