Kolkata Knight Riders’ pacer Vaibhav Arora has evolved into a vital death-overs weapon this IPL season, crediting his refined skills to mentorship from Dwayne Bravo and bowling coach Bharat Arun.

The 27-year-old, now a trusted figure for captain Ajinkya Rahane, has consistently delivered under pressure, combining precise slower balls and cutters to stifle opponents. His recent spells, including a decisive penultimate over against Punjab Kings, underscore his growing reputation as a specialist in crunch moments.

Arora On Bravo & Arun's Role On His Growth

During Saturday’s rain-curtailed and abandoned fixture, Arora’s tactical brilliance shone as he conceded just nine runs in the 19th over, dismissing the dangerous Marco Jansen with a clever leg-cutter.

Reflecting on his development, Arora emphasized the role of KKR’s coaching staff which helped him carve out to be the weapon he is now.

“I am working with DJ sir and Bharat Arun sir on death bowling during the practice sessions, and I am getting the result for it.” Vaibhav explained to the reporters at the post-match press conference.

While the washed-out game dented Kolkata’s momentum, Arora remained pragmatic.

“Unfortunately, the match didn’t take place; it is better to take one point than nothing. There might be a scenario where we could qualify with one point. We will take it in a positive way,” Arora stated.

Arora On The Team's Performance

The team trails fourth-placed Punjab by four points, needing a swift turnaround in their remaining matches. Arora acknowledged the team’s lopsided performances, with Rahane standing alone amid batting collapses.

“We are bowling well, but we are lacking in batting. We will try to bowl well and improve our batting,” Arora concluded.

As KKR seeks to defend its title, balancing both departments will be critical to reviving their playoff bid. For the unaware, despite Punjab posting 201/5, Kolkata’s chase was abandoned due to heavy showers, leaving the Knight Riders with a solitary point. The team languishes seventh in the standings with seven points, their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
