In the aftermath of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, head coach Andy Flower highlighted the importance of recruiting "highly skilful bowlers" for the next season (IPL 2025), particularly to handle the challenges of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Following their defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, Flower acknowledged the efforts of the team but underscored the need for strategic recruitment to improve their performance at home.

RCB Coach Stresses on Bowlers for Chinnaswamy

"I think our guys have fought brilliantly over the last 10 weeks to come back from our first half of the tournament was a great effort," Flower said. "I certainly would pay tribute to Faf du Plessis for his captaincy. Faf and Virat [Kohli] for the way they've led from the front as role models and professional sports people."

Flower praised the leadership of du Plessis and Kohli, acknowledging their influence on the team's resurgence in the latter half of the season.

"As far as recruitment for next year," Flower continued. "It's a bit early to talk about that. Quite frankly, I don't want to talk about that yet. I do think though the Chinnaswamy has some particular qualities that we need to be able to exploit. You certainly need highly skilful bowlers at Chinnaswamy.

"Simply pace is not going to be the answer there. You need skilful, intelligent bowlers and people that can bowl to really specific plans at Chinnaswamy."

Flower emphasised the necessity for bowlers with precision and intelligence to tackle the high-scoring nature of Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This focus is crucial as RCB's pacers have struggled, conceding 1850 runs at home this season, the second-highest after Mumbai Indians in Wankhede Stadium.

RCB's journey this season saw a dramatic turnaround, with six consecutive victories propelling them into the playoffs despite a poor start.

However, their inconsistency at home, winning only one out of the first four matches at Chinnaswamy, highlighted the need for strategic improvements.
