The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) once again fell short in the Indian Premier League (IPL), losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator round of the tournament's 17th season.

Despite putting up 172/8 in their 20 overs, RCB's batting and fielding efforts were ordinary, leading to a four-wicket defeat as RR chased down the target with Rovman Powell's late big hits securing the win.

Rayudu's Sharp Critique

Former Indian & Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Ambati Rayudu did not hold back his criticism of RCB after their elimination.

Speaking on Star Sports, Rayudu said, "RCB will have to understand that you can’t win the IPL trophy by aggressive celebrations. You can’t achieve success by beating Chennai Super Kings. You need a proper team and good performance in the playoffs to clinch the trophy."

Rayudu's pointed comments highlight the importance of consistency and strategy over mere displays of aggression.

He further emphasized the significance of utilizing local talent, stating, "Bengaluru will have to trust the Indian players and local coaches. You can’t ignore the Indian talent in the Indian Premier League. CSK, MI, and KKR have understood the importance of Indian players and that’s why they are among the top performing units."

RCB's journey to the playoffs included a notable win against CSK, after which the players celebrated extensively. This did not sit well with Rayudu, who reminded them of the broader picture. "IPL trophies are not won by rowdy celebrations on the field," he noted, pointing out that sustainable success in the tournament requires more than just defeating a rival team.

Looking ahead, Rajasthan Royals(RR) will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) in Qualifier 2 on May 24 at Chepauk Stadium, and the winner will play against Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) in the IPL 2024 final at the same venue on May 26.
