'Many Hospitals...,' Harshit Rana's Father Reveals Pacer's Horrid History Of Injuries

Harshit Rana recently got his maiden call-up in Test cricket for the all-important Border Gavaskar Trophy. He is yet to make his international debut, but has been in the scheme of things in all formats in recent times. He generates good pace and gets good byte off the surface. Rana is also a handy batter and that makes him a good all-round package who can serve Indian cricket for a long time.
However, the journey has not been easy for the 22-year-old. He is a well-built guy but suffered lot of injuries in his teenage days. Recently, in an interview with Indian Express, Harshit Rana and his father recallled tough times and mentioned that during the last BGT series, the pacer suffered from multiple stress factures.
Harshit Rana's Father Recalls His Helplessness
His father stated that Harshit Rana first suffered from a back injury and then groin which was followed by a calf injury and a niggle on his shoulder. He added that almost every part of his body was injured and he took his son to many hospitals to find out what exactly the problem is. His father recalled that he tried everything he could and even use social media whenever possible.
“First it was back, then it was groin, then calf and a niggle in the shoulder. Every part of his body was injured. During that time I had taken him to many hospitals just to understand why he is breaking down. I even took him to an Ayurveda facility in Najafgarh. Whatever knowledge I gained from watching videos, and reading news items, I tried everything."
Delhi Pacer Credits His Father For Success
Harshit Rana also credited his father for his growth as a cricketer and said that his father stood like a rock behind him during his injury-prone period. He added that whatever he is now, it is because of his father.
“During my teenage years I was getting injured too often and my father stood like a rock behind me. He told me that it was okay even if I don’t become a professional cricketer. Whatever I am today, it is because of my father.”
Harshit Rana recently celebrated his selection in the BGT with a strong bowling performance for Delhi in domestic cricket and would be eyeing to make a memorable debut for India in Australia.
