Cricket Australia has announced the T20I squad for the three-match series against Pakistan. The T20I series is scheduled to start on 14th of November while the second and third game will be played on 16th and 18th of November. So, Australia have gone with players who will not be part of the Test series and have not named the captain of the 13-member squad in the absence of regular skipper Mitchell Marsh.

There are some senior players in the side like Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis, but none of them have led Australia so far and the selectors are still weighing their options. So, here are the three strong candidates who can lead Australia in the three-match T20I series against Pakistan

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is an experienced campaigner and has played cricket all over the globe. He has played 113 T20Is for Australia and has also led Melbourne Stars for a long time in BBL. So, he has all the experience in the world and is a respected figure in Australian cricket. He is also known for his innovative cricket and might bring that to the table in his captaincy too. So, he is surely one of the front-runner to take over as captain for a short T20I series.

Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis is another high-profile cricketer included for thew T20I series against Pakistan. He does not have a lot of captaincy experience in domestic cricket, but is an experienced cricketer and is known for his all-round skills which would help him think both as a batter and bowler in pressure situation. Stoinis was also in line recently to lead Melbourne Stars in BBL and he could be a like-for-like replacement for Mitchell Marsh who is also a seam-bowling all-rounder.

Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis has not played lot of cricket for Australia, but has been a regular in recent times. He has lot of domestic experience and is known for his tactical nous as vice-captain of Perth Scorchers in BBL. He is a wicketkeeper too, and they are generally known to be good captains due to the view they get from behind the stumps. He also has been in great form in recent times and is known for his aggressive mindset which aligns with the modern-day cricket, making him a good choice as captain for Pakistan series.
