Abrar Ahmed has found himself at the centre of social media buzz after naming former India player Shikhar Dhawan as the cricketer he would like to face in a boxing ring. The surprising remark came during a recent appearance on a Pakistani YouTube channel, where the 27-year-old was participating in a fun segment with the host.

When asked, "Kaunsa aisa player hai duniya ka jo aap chahate hai ki aapke saamne ho aur aap boxing karein, jispe bada gussa aata ho?" (Who is the one player in the world you’d like to face in a boxing match, who makes you really angry?), Abrar Ahmed did not hesitate.
“Main chahta hu ki main boxing karu aur khada Shikhar Dhawan ho saamne,” (I want to box, and I want Shikhar Dhawan in front of me) said Abrar. However, the clip quickly went viral across social media platforms, prompting divided reactions from fans.

Many fans took the comment lightly without making any fuss about it. But many fans connected the dots and compared Abrar's statement to the recent ongoing controversy between India and Pakistan.
Abrar Ahmed had a disappointing campaign in the Asia Cup 2025. The spinner featured in seven matches, claiming just six wickets at an economy rate of 5.36. Overall, talking about his career, Abrar Ahmed has played 10 Tests and taken 46 wickets at an economy of 3.60.
He has also played in 11 ODIs and scalped 18 wickets at an average of 25.61. In the shortest format of the game, he has taken 29 wickets in 23 matches.
