PCB offers free and cheap tickets to attract fans for Pakistan vs South Africa Test series

In a recent development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced free and low-cost tickets for the upcoming two-match Test series between Pakistan and South Africa, to be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi. It is important to note that this series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27. 

The first Test match will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from October 12 to 16. The second Test will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.

One of the major reasons the Pakistan board might have decided to reduce the price is to encourage fans to return to stadiums. In the recent Test matches, we have seen poor crowd attendance in Pakistan. For example, during last year’s Test series against Bangladesh, barely spectators showed up for the game despite low price tickets.

Why are fans staying away from Test Cricket?

The low attendance is believed to be Pakistan’s inconsistent performance in Test cricket. Many fans feel that the team has not met expectations in the longest format of the game. As a result, interest in red-ball matches has dropped, especially among younger generation who prefer the fast-paced T20 cricket. 

So to encourage more fans to attend, the PCB has decided to make most of the tickets either free or highly affordable.

It is vital to note that, Pakistan and South Africa will also play white-ball matches (3 T20 T20Is and 3 ODIs). Tickets for these matches will be available from October 16.

Ticket prices for PAK vs SA Test series

First Test (October 12-16)

  • General, First-Class, Premium, and VIP Enclosures (Major Stands): Free
  • VIP Iqbal & Jinnah End, Gallery: PKR 800–1,000 
  • Platinum Box: PKR 8,000 for each of the first four days, and PKR 10,000 for Day 5.

Second Test (October 20-24)

  • General, First-Class, Premium, and VIP Enclosures (Major Stands): Free
  • PCB Gallery: PKR 800 for first four days, PKR 1,000 for Day 5
  • Platinum Box: PKR 8,000 for each of the first four days, PKR 10,000 for Day 5
