'Love Playing Here': Rahul Dravid On His Admiration For Chepauk Stadium During TNPL Final

The former India head coach, Rahul Dravid was in attendance during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) final at the iconic Chepauk Stadium.

Rahul Dravid, has fond memories of playing at the ground, where he has played since Junior days, and he also smacked a century against South Africa at this very ground to complete 10,000 runs in Test cricket.


Dravid speaks on his love for Chepauk Stadium

Recalling the old memories, Dravid stated that the stadium has changed since his early playing days, but the crowd support, and appreciation for the players hasn't changed a bit. He added that the supporters understood the game well, and it was an honour to play at this iconic venue.

“Yeah, I think some of my best memories are actually playing league cricket here, playing league cricket in the old days, growing up here and the stadium used to look very different then. All concrete stands, it’s beautiful to see how it’s changed now but it was lovely to play some league cricket here,” Dravid speaking to Star Sports Tamil.


He added: “I’ve played a lot of international cricket here, and it’s always great to play in front of this crowd because it was one of the most supportive and appreciative crowds in the country, really knew their cricket and love their cricket. So, (I) love playing at Chepauk, love playing at this ground. (I) Scored my 10,000 runs at this ground, so that was a really nice, special moment."

Dravid, recently stepped down from the head coach's position after a triumphic victory in the T20 World Cup finals. 

Meanwhile, the Dindigul Dragons, led by R Ashwin won the TNPL 2024 as they defeated Lyca Kovai Kings by 6-wickets.
