Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori conceded that the team has not been playing great cricket in IPL 2025 thus far. Having won only 3 out of 9 matches, SRH now has an uphill task at hand and need to win all their remaining 5 games in order to even stand a hope of reaching the playoffs.

As IPL 2024 season runners up, expectations from SRH were high this year, particularly with the sort of firepower they have in the batting department. But the team has declined, losing 6 out of the 9 matches played till date.

Moreover, their road to the playoffs has gotten tedious, and ahead of the upcoming game against GT, head coach Daniel Vettori has accepted his team’s shortcomings.

Daniel Vettori Criticises SRH For Inconsistency

Before their crucial game against Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 2, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori spoke openly about SRH’s struggles. He said the team has not been able to perform well in all three departments, batting, bowling, and fielding, at the same time.

“I don’t think we’ve put together complete performances. We’ve let ourselves down in one facet, probably in every match. You look at the good teams that are winning at the moment – they’ve been consistent across the board,” he said.

Despite the disappointing season, Vettori had words of praise for young batter Aniket Verma. Making his debut this year, the 23-year-old has scored 190 runs in nine matches at an average of 27.14. His highest score so far is 74.

“In terms of individuals, I’ve been very pleased with Aniket – coming into the side and the IPL for the first time and being able to play a style that’s really suited the team. He’s established himself as one of our key members,”  he added.

Earlier in the season, GT had defeated SRH comfortably in Hyderabad. Now, the Shubman Gill-led side will look to do the double, while SRH will be hoping to stay alive in the tournament.

SRH Went To Maldives For A Mini-Vacation

Following a morale-lifting victory against Chennai Super Kings, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had a brief respite from IPL 2025 and traveled to the Maldives. A highlight of the trip was a beach volleyball game, in which Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma captained their respective teams in a friendly encounter.

Travis Head, on the other hand, chose a more chilled-out approach. He skipped the volleyball match, opting instead to lounge by the beach with a drink in hand, soaking in the calm vibe of the island.
