In a significant development, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has handed a three-year suspension to former fast bowler S Sreesanth for his controversial remarks on Sanju Samson's exclusion from India's Champions Trophy squad. The governing body stated that the decision to suspend Sreesanth from all cricket-related activity was taken at its general body meeting in Ernakulam on Friday.

KCA Slaps 3-Year Ban On Sreesanth

In its official statement, KCA admitted to issuing a show-cause notice to Sreesanth and Aries Kollam Sailors, a Kerala Premier League franchise co-owned by the ex-pacer, for the former's baseless allegations on the cricketing body.

“Following the controversial remarks, the KCA had issued show-cause notices to Sreesanth and the franchisee teams Kollam Aries, Alleppey Team Lead content creator Sai Krishnan, and Alleppey Ripples. As the franchisee teams gave satisfactory replies to the notice, the meeting decided not to proceed with further action against them. However, the KCA instructed the team management to be vigilant when including members,” the KCA statement read, as quoted by the Indian Express.

What Exactly Happened Between Sreesanth, KCA And Samson?

It's worth mentioning that Sanju Samson couldn't find a place in India's Champions Trophy squad after failing to make into Kerala's team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. According to the KCA, he had sent an email, informing the board about his unavailability for the competition.

However, Sreesanth launched a verbal attack on KCA, accusing it of foul play against the swashbuckling keeper-batter.

As the matter escalated, the cricketing body sought an explanation from the former fast bowler, dismissing his statements as baseless allegations.

It even issued a show-cause notice, not for standing by Samson but for defaming the governing body with his claims. Eventually, the board suspended Sreesanth, even issuing a legal notice to Samson's father for supporting the allegations.
