In Test cricket, the pitch always tends to be the centre of all the talking and ahead of the all-important second Test between India and South Africa, it has again taken centrestage. In the first Test, there was quite uneven bounce and India found it tough to tackle as South African pacers dismantled India.

There was good covering of grass as well and South Africa went with all-pace attack at the cost of their star spinner, Keshav Maharaj. Ravichandran Ashwin too was ineffective for India and it would be interesting to see how the pitch will behave in this Test.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain has revealed some details about the pitch at Newlands for the second Test. According to Rohit, the pitch is quite similar to the one in Centurion in the first Test but added that there is less grass on it.

"The Newlands pitch looks quite similar to Centurion but there is less grass covering."

So, spinners might get into the game a bit more this time around, and we might see South Africa bringing back Keshav Maharaj into the XI. Ravindra Jadeja is expected to replace Ashwin and there also would be less uneven bounce on this pitch compared to Centurion.
