The World Cup 2023 is done and dusted and the focus has now shifted to the T20 format with T20 World Cup coming up in June 2024. It will be played in the Caribbean and USA and Indian fans would be hoping that their team bring the title home this time around.

However, there is still an element of doubt on the availability of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the marquee event. The experienced duo has not played T20Is since the loss in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal and with only three T20Is against Afghanistan to go before the World Cup, there is a school of thought that does not want India to go back to their star duo in the T20 format.

However, A report by the Press Trust of India (PTI) has revealed that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are keen to play in the T20 World Cup, which is great news for their fans. Both are proven performers and the pitches in Caribbean might get difficult for batters later in the tournament, which can make their role important.

If Rohit Sharma is back, he will most likely captain India ahead of Hardik Pandya while Virat Kohli will fit in at number 3.
