Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach Confident Of His Last Dance In ODI

In 2024, Virat Kohli retired from the T20 format following India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. Now, he will only serve in the ODI format henceforth.

Meanwhile, amid fans’ disappointment, Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has confidently claimed that the 36-year-old will win the 2027 ODI World Cup for India, as he is fully committed to the 50-over format.

"Hopefully, he will be there to win the ODI World Cup for India and he will be 100 per cent committed to it," Rajkumar Sharma told ANI.

Moreover, Sharma backed Kohli’s decision and said that he is proud of whatever the veteran achieved in the white uniform.

"I salute him for his tremendous contribution to Indian Cricket and as a coach, I am proud of him for what he has done for the country and the example he has set for the youngsters. Emotionally, it hurts that we won't be seeing him in whites again for the country. I appreciate and back his decision," he added.

Following his Test retirement, Virat Kohli is expected to next play for India in the ODI series against Bangladesh starting August 17, 2025. However, if the series is postponed due to regional tensions, fans may have to wait until October 19, when India faces Australia in Perth.
