'It’s Just The Reality of Scheduling and...': Aaron Finch on Rohit Sharma's Call for Three-Match WTC Final

After India's humiliating loss against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 on Sunday, skipper Rohit Sharma floated the idea of playing a three-match series in the upcoming editions. Pat Cummins and Co. handed India a massive 209-run defeat to lift their maiden ICC Test Mace, ahead of their much-anticipated 'The Ashes 2023' series.

Speaking in the post-match presser, Sharma talked about better scheduling of the WTC Final keeping in mind the Indian Premier League (IPL). Former Australia captain Aaron Finch, however, disagrees with Sharma, saying that the three-Test series will be a waste of time.

Australian captain Pat Cummins in response to Sharma's remarks, stated that the final should take place only once, much like an event in the Olympics.

Here's what Finch said

“I think it’s just the reality of the scheduling and the time constraints on fixtures at the moment. I’ve got no issues with it, I think if it’s drawn out over three Tests, what happens if a team gets annihilated? It becomes a bit of a waste of time.

We all play sport for the wins and the losses… I don’t have any issue with it at all."

Several cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Harbhajan Singh have questioned Sharma's call for the best of three WTC Final, saying that the final only happens once, and not many times.
