India came at the World Test Championship (WTC) finals with a lot of expectations, but were humiliated by a spirited Australian side, as they thrashed India by 209 runs to clinch the WTC title at the Oval on Sunday.

India needed a gigantic 444 to win the final, but despite a solid start by the Indian openers, the batting crumbled under pressure and the team surrendered in front of a tactically brilliant Australian team.

Following the loss, several former players lambasted the Indian team for their performance, and a part of the blame went towards the scheduling of the Indian Premier League, as the cash-rich event didn't allow the Indian team members to get proper rest ahead of the WTC final.

In an exclusive chat with OneCricket, Virat Kohli's childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, who was in London to watch the final, stated that the Indian team lost the final because of their lack of preparation ahead of the final. He also took a dig at the IPL, and blamed the players for not coming to England early.

"There are lots of factors for India's loss, one of them could be the IPL. Five days ago, we were playing in the IPL, and suddenly we are here in England to play this all-important series without any preparation. For such big events, the preparation has to be good, which wasn't there with the Indian team.

He added: "Look at Australia, they were well prepared for the final, and we all saw the results. Only two of their players were their for IPL, but every Indian player, who were part of the WTC squad were playing in the IPL."

The Indian players arrived in England after a hectic IPL season, and that was evident in their game-play as the Australian team outplayed India and became the first nation to clinch every ICC trophies available.
